The design trade industry is invited to join the professionals at Sherwin-Williams and learn the influences and drivers of color and design for 2018. These three unique color patterns draw from emerging global trends. The collection predicts the colors that will drive conversation and inspiration for the coming year. Enjoy complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres.

 About the Presenter

Michael Plank, Director
Color Marketing & Design, The Sherwin-Williams Company

Michael came to Sherwin-Williams as the Director of Color Marketing and Design (CM&D) in April 2016. His team is responsible for providing color and design solutions for The Americas Group, serving Sherwin-Williams field representatives and over 4,200 stores throughout North America. Under his lead, CM&D fulfills various projects including exterior/interior photo imaging, custom color cards and Homescapes®. He is also a member of the ColorMix Forecast Team and serves as a media backup for color topics. Starting his career as a designer with work featured in Communication Arts and the Society of Illustrators, Michael developed a love for color. He interned with Hallmark Cards his senior year, transitioning to a full time position after graduation. This led him to American Greetings as Lead Line Designer for Key Accounts. With a career centered in color, pattern and surface design, he became passionate about designing for the home décor market. He took a Designer role with the Product Development team at Target, working on their Home Décor team. Most recently, he served as Director of Design at Jo-Ann Fabrics. There he led the launch of several private brands, including Hudson 43, Two Daughters and Fab Lab.

Michael earned his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. He lives in Cleveland with his wife and two daughters, and is an avid painter and artist.
