This past June, the Indiana Design Center welcomed guests to the building to kick off the Carmel Arts & Design District Gallery Walk. Attendees enjoyed galleries, meeting artists, live music presented by The Warehouse, hors d’oeuvres, beverages, plein air painters, and kid friendly activities. Many thanks to Guerin Catholic High School students who organized a paper sculpture art activity for the kids.
Galleries, studios and showrooms were open and artist Walter Knabe gave a tour of his studio located on the second floor of the IDC. Most importantly, this was one of the first times the public saw the work of artist, Christine Kim. Kim is a Cut Paper Sculpture and Mixed Media artist and her work will be displayed through July in the IDC Grand Hall. Kim attended the opening to answer questions for the public and helped with the paper lantern activity.
In case you missed the June Gallery Walk, there’s always July! Please join us from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on July 11 as the IDC kicks off the Gallery Walks each month through October. Take advantage of convenient underground and surface parking in the District and stop into the IDC to enjoy art, design, and entertainment.
