DESIGN NEWS: Top 3 Design Trends for 2018

Posted on under Site News

With a new year comes evolutions in fashion, technology and, our favorite, 2018 design trends. This past fall, design professionals traveled to the annual High Point Fall Market in North Carolina to see the latest introductions in residential interiors. At the same time, the Indiana Design Center hosted a panel discussion featuring leading kitchen and bath professionals and keynote speaker, Judd Lord, senior industrial designer for Brizo and Delta Faucet Co., to celebrate the design industry’s official Kitchen & Bath Month. Amidst the excitement, it is clear that new trends have emerged and we are eager to preview them for you.

Dark & Metallic

The winning combination for 2018 is the marriage of dark finishes with metallics, namely black and gold. The two-tone application is classic but offers a modern edge to a space and can be accomplished through plumbing fixtures, like those in Brizo’s Litze collection, or through accessories, lighting and hardware.

Sustainable Design

Sustainable design is a broad topic and one taking on more and more steam in the design industry. Why? Because the earth’s natural resources are limited and many industry professionals are committed to coming up with innovative and simple ways to eliminate negative impacts on our environment and health, and to make your home function better as a part of that philosophy. Examples of sustainably-designed products include materials made from renewable resources like bamboo flooring or energy- efficient LED light fixtures. Investing in longer-lasting and high performance products also reduces the need to continually replace them and produce new ones.

Think Pink

For 2018, the color pink continues to be a key trend. From palest rose to brightest fuchsias, it may be the most exciting design surprise of late. Whether your style is elegant, casual, chic or bohemian, the right shade of pink could be the change you’ve wanted for a while. Organic collections look softer with pink and bohemian rooms look just dreamy. It’s versatile, uncommon and both dynamic and cozy.
